This week I wanted to talk about lead magnets..and before you glaze over click away, please hear me out!
I know they’re not very sexy in the bigger picture of marketing, but, I cannot tell you just how powerful and game-changing they can be for your marketing – honestly!
Ok, let’s start with the basics here, what the heck is a lead magnet?
A lead magnet is basically an item of value that you offer people in exchange for their email address.
In today’s world, we are all super-protective of our email inbox because it’s probably out of control, so people aren’t just handing out this precious address without them getting something they really need in return!
(Fun fact, my Google inbox currently has 12,961 unread emails in it – and yes, that hurts my head too!).
If you are wanting to grow your mailing list (and yes, this is a rhetorical question, EVERYONE should be actively growing their email list!) then you’re going to need a lead magnet to drive this.
Ok, so you get the reason for it, but what on earth are you supposed to use as a lead magnet?
Great question I hear you ask (am I seriously having a 2 way conversation with myself here? Yikes, this cold is beating me up, I need more panadol…or maybe wine?!)
Here are some ideas you could use to create a PDF in Canva – and yes, they are super specific in order to connect to your ideal audience – generic doesn’t cut it in ANY area of marketing (don’t get me back on my #wendystruthbombs rants again!). Consider who you are targeting and create something that addresses their pain points:
- Best Rail Journeys in Europe That Aren’t Just For Old People
- How To Spend 7 Days in Italy With a Fussy Family
- How to Survive a Disney Park with Impatient Young Kids
- Top 5 Cruise Lines for Great Coffee, Wine and No Kids
- Best Safaris for Authentic Experiences Without the Masses
- Top Luxury Inclusive Resorts in Europe, Kids Welcomed
- Best VIP Experiences in Asia You Don’t Know About
You get the idea. And yes, feel free to rip these to use yourself, you’re totally welcome!
You can add this to your Welcome/Nurture email sequence, so when a new subscriber signs up for the lead magnet, you drop it into their inbox… and so a beautiful travel relationship begins!
Well, ok, not quite…of course you then need to continue to build the relationship with ongoing emails.
And you probably also want to know how you drive traffic to the lead magnet in the first place?
Well, let’s cover that one next week!
In the meantime, if you’d like some help with getting your Mailing List set up and growing you nice warm leads – let’s chat.
Feel free to leave me a comment with your thoughts on this?
